Introduction to LEAP Housing

LEAP is a registered charity and social landlord delivering housing and support services to homeless vulnerable young people and adults in Lincoln and Gainsborough.  With over 25 years’ experience of delivering housing related support, the Charity has built an excellent reputation locally and over time has built a prosperous property portfolio.

LEAP is an acronym for Lincolnshire Employment Accommodation Project and whilst we have excelled in housing related support, the employment element has always been an area where we aspire to be able to offer the vulnerable people work opportunities that are often outside their reach in a competitive employment market.

LEAP Property Maintenance Service

We believe that there is a synergy for LEAP with the multiskilled construction industry in terms of maintaining our own property portfolio.  Therefore, LEAP is setting up a Social Enterprise that will be able to offer ethical maintenance/handyman services locally. 

LEAP Property Maintenance Service will employ skilled trades persons to work alongside a number of young apprentices.  The apprenticeship will provide skills and experience in a range of areas within the maintenance and construction industry and throughout their apprenticeship, staff will be working on their skills to move each individual on to meaningful employment.

Working with local training providers will be key to us reaching out to those who most need this type of opportunity who may otherwise struggle to gain meaningful training and employment. 

LEAP Property Maintenance Service will also address local skills shortage in the maintenance and construction industry.

USP

The service will be delivered in an ethical way:

• Any profits with be fed back into the charity to allow LEAP to reach out to more vulnerable people requiring housing and support services
• All staff will be locally sourced
• Apprentices will be recruited through Abbey Access providing opportunities to local vulnerable people
• Upskilling local people and making more people economically independent
• Addressing a labour shortage for skilled trades persons locally
• Providing discounted services to local people in receipt of benefits or on low income
